Pain, unrelenting

From twisted metal

From falling cinders, ashes

Seared  deeply in our hearts

 9/11

in somber morning coats or /  festooned with medals/  their folly,
 war/ lies buried in rubble

the weight of water 2.0

Water/ it wears mountains down / to small pebbles/ later to be pitched/ carelessly by children.

weeds and cracked sidewalks
of a neighborhood
you once called home
now so forgotten
even by you

Sparrow's riffs

a sparrow perched
on an upturned shopping cart
regales its audience
with its clattering riffs
without taking a bow

The coming Wolf Moon

bloated stomachs gurgle
(hunger refusing to go)
quietly into the night
especially during
the Wolf Moon
